A growing number of venues are losing business because they are not addressing their carbon footprint.  But there are very few options open to venues. Faced with increasingly environmentally aware customers, venues can either fundamentally re-fit their building with low energy solutions, or they can look at the carbon footprint of their meetings.  De-carbonising meetings is the cheaper option. Venues need to start to look at their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies very closely.

Meetings are very paper-intensive events.  And for each piece of paper, there are carbon emissions equivalent to burning a 60W light bulb for 1 hour.  A meeting of 10 people will typically have emissions of around 1.6kg of CO2 – equivalent to driving a typical 4x4 car for 6 miles – from the paper and LCD projector alone.

Synanto’s MeetingPod offers a paperless meeting solution.  The same meeting of 10 people would have a carbon footprint of 0.2kg of CO2 using the MeetingPod.

The system is a paperless, electronic meeting system, which is much more energy efficient than using paper, and uses a fraction of the energy used by laptops.

The system also solves a huge range of common communication problems often encountered in meetings.  The system shares all the meeting’s relevant information between attendees and, when logging off, e-mails a full record of the event to every attendee.

For venues, the system gives the ability to communicate directly with its users.  As well as getting real time feedback, it lets venues provide meeting attendees with relevant information about the venue.  This can be tailored to each meeting and has the potential to be a powerful new marketing channel for the venue.
